Please join us for our next mentoring reception for Hon. Akemi Arakaki.
Judge Akemi D. Arakaki was appointed to Los Angeles Superior Court by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in December 2010. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she served as a Deputy Public Defender for the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. Before joining the Public Defender’s Office, she was an attorney in private practice.
Judge Arakaki served as the President of Japanese American Bar Association (JABA), Chair of the Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, and President of Asian Pacific American Public Defenders Association. She married her partner June Yamaki in October 2008.
