The conference is being hosted by the Orange County Asian American Bar Association (OCAABA) and the Orange County Korean American Bar Association (OC KABA).

Some of the highlights of the conference include: A variety of CLE panels led by prominent private-practice attorneys, judges, and in-house counsel; a gala dinner featuring Rani Hong, who is the Special Advisor to the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking and co-founder of the Tronie Foundation; a lunch plenary session featuring Christine Yoo, who will make her feature film debut with the award-winning movie Wedding Palace; and a re-enactment of the trial of Minoru Yasui (led by OC Superior Court Judge Kirk Nakamura).

APAWLA panel
Among the programs featured at this conference is the program that APAWLA will be presenting entitled, "Breaking the Glass Ceiling--Where Do We Stand Now? From an Asian Pacific American Perspective." Our distinguished panelists include Anna Y. Park, Regional Attorney for the Los Angeles District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Toni J. Jaramilla, a very dedicated and compassionate employment law attorney, and Gowri Ramachandran, a Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School who teaches Constitutional Law and Employment Law, and is Co-editor of the Journal of Legal Education. The program moderator is Diane M. L. Tan, a retired Administrative Law Judge and APAWLA's treasurer and co-founder.

This panel will present an interactive discussion about glass ceiling problems faced by Asian Pacific Americans in the legal workplace due to their race and gender; what rights and effective strategies are available to eliminate such discriminatory treatment and break the glass ceiling; and what efforts are still needed to increase the inclusion and advancement of Asian Pacific Americans in significant positions and to ensure fair and equal treatment in the workplace."
